Ruling alliance may appear in Hong Kong

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Lam Sui-lung believed that ruling alliance may appear in Hong Kong government, but the government will not be hold by one party as the proportional representation and the scale of party is still small.

Lam have participated politico- business more than 20 years, he thought since 80’s, the legislative council election holded, the development of political parties in Hong Kong sprang up, the political party is a indispensable part in Hong Kong politics.

“The effect of political party on government is increasing in these several years, and the ruling alliance may appear in the future. But party monopolize will not appear as the scale of the Hong Kong political party is still small. Also, the proportional representation ensures there are different parties in the legislative council.” he said.

The assistant secretary will be acceded to every bureauxs, they will be appointed by the government, whatever they are member of political party. The person who is appointed can retain their political party background but Lam didn’t agree that it has political meaning. “Different member of political party can represent different stratum. Also, they have experience of election, realize the desire of citizenry and excel to write the political program. The government just wants to capture more talent and widens the resident’s opportunity to participate political”

Lam has stated publicity that he supports DBA, he responded that the government allows officials have an orientation, but his view didn’t represent government, “Government need to gain supporting and cooperate with different party. For example, the budget obtains many pan-democrat councilors‘s supporting, not just the pro- government’s party (DBA).”
