Scholarism Insists Public Nomination – LAI, Man Lok

“Civil nomination is a must in leading an equal universal suffrage in Hong Kong” said LAI, Man Lok, the spokesperson of Scholarism.


“Scholarism do not mean setting a limitation on the election candidates, however, they should be widely accepted by Hong Kong citizens. The concept of equality will not and should not be changed in the universal suffrage.” LAI said.


LAI, Man Lok added that public nomination can ensure that every candidates have equal rights in the elections and is the only method in avoiding political monopoly in the government.


“We are not intended to do against the government. Scholarism aims at changing and reforming the existing system which is unfair and unequal. ” LAI, Man Lok said.


Scholarism, organized by a group of secondary students, was founded in 2011. Scholarism is organized at first in opposing the government proposal of National Education Issue. The group devoted in political movements in Hong Kong.
