Since last year’s protest against national education, a group of youngsters are aiming on a bigger target: putting forward a universal suffrage proposal for the 2017 chief executive poll.

“Instead of to be called a student organization, we prefer to be called as a civil society as we are focusing on the the social issue on behalf of the 90s,” said spokesperson of Scohlarism, Oscar Lai Man Lok.

Instead of having the right of voting, The group proposed that “broadly representative” should also have the right to stand for election and to be elected which meets the international standard of fairnesss from United Nation.

Lai agree with the idea of civil disobedience of Occupy Central movement which is the civil disobedience campaign that will lead a bloackage in Central next June if the government are not going to put in any action to propose an acceptable electoral reforms. “We agree about the idea but not the proposal they made for the movement.” Said Lai.

“We don’t agree to sign up an parents agreement for people hwo are under 18 years old.” Said Lai. Scholarsim members are a group that include a lot of students who are under 18 so Schlarsim is not considering to join OccupyCentral movement at the moment.

Scholarism’s priority now is to promote its electoral reform plan from 4 district to 18 district as to reach the scale of last year’s protest of national edication.
