Shik: Tabloid replaces Board Sheet

The board sheets of Hong Kong are facing the keen competition from the free tabloids in recent years. The chairman of“AM730”Media Limited, Shik Wing Ching points out that the board sheet can be replace by the free tabloid.

“The living space of the free tabloid are being increase, but the market of board sheet is being shrink.” said by Shik on the talk of Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday. Shik explained that, people can receive the news information from a lot of free channels in nowadays, but not only from the board sheet, they become not willing to pay for the information. And he pointed out the problems of the board sheet, “Apart of the board sheet are facing the problem of news quality, also the objects of them are being elder.” “In my view, the free tabloids have the potential to replace the board sheet.” said by Shik.

Advertisement is the main income of the board sheet, but Shik thinks that tabloid have better purposes on advertising, “Tabloids can contact with more readers then the board sheet, and the readers can be attract by its page design easily. That’s why the advertisements on the tabloids can gain more benefits than those on the board sheet.”
