Short of market and talented person are difficulties of HK develop technology entrepreneurship, says president of Technology Incubation Network

Hong Kong haven’t enough market space and talented person work for technology entrepreneurship, says Kenneth Chau during the talk held on 13 November at a Shue Yan University.

“The biggest problem of technology entrepreneurship is people thinks that you have a new product idea then you can earn money,” said Kenneth Chau, president of technology incubation network.

He said, not many people want to engage in technology entrepreneurship industry, but he saw a phenomenon that people who willing to join the industry are increasing gradually. He thinks the problem can solve in few years.

About the problem of not enough market space in Hong Kong, Kenneth said Hong Kong can be a role of test space for creator to test the market reaction.

After testing, creator can get more information of consumer, it helps them design a more suitable product and estimated price for sale.

“I think some seniors said that the doctor and accounting will disappear after few years is exaggerated,” Chau said. He said, most of the people in Hong Kong are technology user not developer.

“You can’t be afraid of technology, you need to know how to use it,” Chau said. He said, people use technology popular can pushing youth engage in technology entrepreneurship industry.

Kenneth Chau is the 5th Apple software developer in Hong Kong. In 2007, he bought an iPhone and found it have a business to create a home-use speaker for Karaoke.

He used 3 months understand how to use iPhone and draw a draft send to Apple. After that he start his business in the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP).

HKSTP is space provided by government. It's supportive initiatives and resources to five major technologies clusters – Biomedical Technology, Electronics, Green Technology, Information and Communications Technology and Material and Precision Engineering.

HKSTP have over 13,000 working population nowadays, also converge an expanding pool of talent excelling in the widest range of technology areas.
