Albert J. Cheng, who also known as Tai Pan, stressed that he would not harm the independence of the Digital Broadcasting Corp(DBC), although he is also the adviser of DBC and the owner of its competitor D100.

"I only give technical support. Unless Francis Mak ask me for help, I will not send people to help or intervene," Cheng said, emphasizing that he only do things on request and to ensure “seamless transition” as a so-called adviser.

He hoped DBC can successfully operate without his affection, after the removal of his characteristic from the names of DBC channels and a string of similar actions. “If they only imitate me, that would cause many troubles,” said Cheng.

He also criticized Bill Wong, one of the shareholders involved in the shares dispute, that he will surely intervene the decision of new DBC, as Wong always neglected the editorial independence before.
