“It’s not necessary for a large enterprise to shoulder greater social responsibility. (x) Public should not make excessive demands (on?) it,” said Ivan Yau Man-wah, Assistant General Manager of Sino Group’s Corporate Communications, when giving a talk at Hong Kong Shue Yan University today.

Last month, Sino Group released Baker Residences which the flats are small in size with a selling price under three millions dollars. (art) Total(prep) 68 flats of Baker Residences were sold out within a short period of time and it is generally believed that small-size-flats are (in?) need in the market.

There are (voices from the society?) suggesting that in order to perform its social responsibility, Sino should introduce more small-size-flats but not luxurious mansions.

However, Yau pointed out that a corporat(e-use noun not adj) actually bearing a lot of responsibilities, corporate social responsibility is only one of them. He emphasized that it is hard to balance the corporate interest and the corporate social responsibility. “Is it really the best policy for a corporate to target on public interest rather than the corporate interest?” queried Yau.

Yau took Sino Group as an example. The group believes ‘contribute to the community after you take from it’ and always contributes through volunteer work and money donation. He thinks that the group has tried its best to balance its corporate interest and social responsibility.

Yau stressed that corporates have their own policy on how to allocate resources and how to perform social responsibility. “There are various way to perform social responsibility, not only introducing small-size-flats,” added Yau.
