Mr. Tsui Siu Wah, the CEO of Chinetek Intelligence Limited, reject the phenomenon of sensational news reporting among journalist nowadays during a talk in Shue Yan University yesterday.

No matter how people uses“cheap”, “low quality” and “unreliable” to describe journalist, HK mass media is still rather concerned on the market in this commercial society. Under this circumtance, Tsui had given up his work of journalist.

“When I was in ‘Next Magazine’, I did a depth interview of kidnapping and selling children to be flower girl in Shen Zhen. This news aroused a high public awareness. It means that the inside story of the news is more important. To do disclosing, exploding and story news to reflect reality is the mission of reporters," Tsui said. Thus he did a lot of interviews dangerously, which gave him full of satisfaction.

But , the media has a big different now. Whatever quality and moral standard are, both of them downgraded to the lowest level ever before. He feel disappointed to the journalist nowadays, their professional integrity seems lost. Media is sensational nowadays; they only focus on violent and pornographic topic. The purpose is to arouse noise and public interest only.

Today’s journalists are easily to create news by profits; the words of news are sensational and paparazzi infringe the privacy of celebrity and the public. All the actions of journalists lost the public reliability, even though Tsui still has hope to the future journalist.

Journalist must have a resolute belief on reporting the truth to the public. They are carrying the mission to report the truth and report correctly. Most importantly, they should reveal and find out the inside story. This belief cannot be fluctuated by the temptation of the society and even money.

Journalists should provide positive message to the public, and have the educational function, they also need to keep a watchful eye on the government and monitor the profession.
