(Your lead is good and solid. However, you seemed to get lost in your story later on. If local news is essential to local audience in Macau, as you quoted Leong as saying, you did not tell us what Leong has done to improve the contents of local news. Instead, you gave us example of TDM sending reporters to Vladivostok, Russia and London. Those were not Macau local news at all. I think what Leong said in his speech was that in addition to strengthen the contents of local news, he also aimed to expand the viewers' horizon.)

TDM: Reform for a more integrated news report

Chairman of the Teledifusão de Macau S.A. (TDM) Executive Committee, João Leong Kam Chun, evinced that TDM is undergoing a reform to enhance the quality of TDM’s news department today at Hong Kong Shue Yan University. “Local news is essential for local audience in Macau,” he pointed out.

Leong pointed out that broadening horizons and applying new elements into the news report of TDM have been important tasks for the reform. Reporters were sent to Russia to cover a news story about the upsurge of Chinese language and culture learning. This had been the very first time that a media corporate in Macau sent reporters to Russia. TDM also included a brief report of Russian’s lifestyle in the news story as extra information provided. In recent 2012 Olympic Games held in London, TDM also introduced an informative part about famous attraction London Eye in the news report.

“The local audience in Macau welcomed and are interested in the new style of news reporting,” Leong stated. He added that the crew and colleagues were also in favour of covering foreign news stories and reporting something more other than news.
