(You introduced Mark Lee's title twice as the executive of TVB in the first two paragraphs seemed odd and unnecessary. You had mentioned "an appropriate competition" and "abnormal competition" but you failed to explain what they were. Being true to every word Mark Lee had said, you had involuntarily become a mouthpiece for him. You should therefore need to present other facts and figures that countered his obviously biased opinion. What 黃應士 Ricky Wong said during his talk could be cited and used against Lee and in this way, your report would be well-balanced.

Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) Executive Director and Group General Manager said nowadays society could not afford more than two free-to-air broadcast television stations.

Mark Lee Po On, TVB Executive Director and Group General Manager, said in the general assembly at Shue Yan University that TVB was not blindly against the issuance of more domestic free television program service licenses. Lee agreed with an appropriate competition, but he said the market of this field in Hong Kong was too small to support a new TV station.

Lee raised Commercial Television, the third local free-to-air broadcast television station in 1970s, as an example. “Although the government attempted to issue more domestic free television program service licenses in 20th century, the society could not support it, led to Commercial Television closed down very soon,” he said.

He emphasized TVB was not afraid of competition. Lee said, “We against because the issuance affects the public interest and media ecology.” He said abnormal competition would result in a regressive performance. He urged a fair system for the issuance of domestic free television program service licenses.

Lee also mentioned the Hong Kong Government had the responsibility to guarantee the TV industry to survive healthily. He said there were two problems needed to be deal with, “the government should evaluate the size of this market and determine how many TV stations are appropriate for Hong Kong.”
