Taiwan media focus report on one candidate makes unfair elections, University professor say

Taiwan elections finished last week, FTV focus to report about Pasuya Yao. It affects voter packing, journalism professor said on sharing talk of interview Taiwan elections.

"If I am one of the voters, I will follow election news from media to choose the mayor,” Associate Professor, Department of Journalism and Communication, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, WONG Chung-ming said at Hong Kong Shue Yan University today.

"They are not supporting ‘Green’ or ’Blue’," Wong said.

He also claims that most of the citizen in Taipei are not in loyalty of one political party.

Most of the citizen were follow information provided by TV news to choose the mayor.

“It makes me angry that FTV (Formosa TV) non-stop to report about Pasuya Yao. However, Yao will lose in the election is expected result," Wong said.

Wong Chung-ming studied university in Taiwan. Last week, he leaded 40 journalism students communicate with Taiwan journalism students at Taipei and students under 3 school- based media to report the Taiwan mayor election.

Republic of China local elections of 2018 were held on 24 November 2018. Local elections are held across the country, with elections to 22 local authorities.

Also, citizen can vote of 10 referendum in the same time. This referendum election is the first time of youth who over 18 has the right to vote for it.

"I always watching TV to get the updated information. All news about Democratic Progressive Party, FTV reported wonderful," Wong said.

Wong said that Taiwan media reporting news is based on some party their supported.

Wong also said that different with Taiwan, media in Hong Kong must be fair to report about news of election.

Special of TV news broadcasting, If they want to publish any information or video of one candidate, TV station must publish same length of information about other candidates.
