Today’s technology is being more advanced and started to change people lifestyle steadily. Global media specialist,Ho Yuet Fung gave a talk about "The Characteristics of Triple Play Communications" at the Hong Kong Shue Yan University for students of Journalism and Mass Communication Department. She said that Technology nowadays changes us everything. There is a co-relationship among the Internet, Broadcast Network, Telecommunication and us.

She criticized that usually in the forms of on-demand Internet. At the same time, mobility becomes more important while people changed their way in doing researches, “In the past, we used to do research by going to library reading books and newspaper, but everything go to the internet by only one click today”, she said.

Ho also said our behavior changed due to the great improvement on technology in today’s society. The status of audience and the content provider changed. In the past, audience is only just an audience; they consumed the content from the content provider only. However, technology helps changing the status and the relation. The appearance of smart phone led audience becomes a content provider.

“It changes our work behavior too”, she said. “We don’t necessary need to go to our office to get things done. Work behavior is different in today’s society.”

Information and entertainment are the main elements of mass media in today’s society, and the content of media keeps changing everyday. Ho said Journalism is a blooming industry, but with a lot more competitions than before. “You have more competitions now, everyone can create content nowadays and you are not the only one mastering the market, things are influencing by the audience and the technology.”

Apart from the pervious changes, Ho deemed that the business model also changed, she uses the business model of Hong Kong taxi drivers today as an example. “Because of mobile devices, taxi drivers today don’t need the taxi call entre anymore since they got their ‘Own Call Centre’ by setting more than one mobile phones in the front part of the seat of taxi driver. From this we could see the great impact of the technology development.”
