Stephen Quinn, the Digital Development Editor of South China Morning Post, said “it is a blessing as well as a curse to have Internet nowadays for journalism industry.” In his view, it is convenient for people to get a lot of information on the Internet but on the other hand, they could copy the information easily. ((great))

He said, “I wrote a chapter about privacy and legal aspect, one of the biggest problem in 21st century is privacy intrusion. It is so easy to find the privacy of someone. With digital information, it is so easy to videotape others, they think I am reading a book on my iphone, but in fact I am filming there. Tiny cameras that everyone and could record very fine details. We have limited privacy nowadays; the law should revisit the subject.”

Quinn also said, “Any news organization has to use the content from audiences, but they should reward audiences.” In his view, citizen journalists should be rewarded for their contribution. If news organization simply takes free content, it will not be appropriate.

He said in his conclusion, “Everyone could type everythings on their iPad and iPhone.” For the unique selling point, he said, “given that everyone has a camera, how can one be more creative when Internet is a huge copying machine.” He believed we should not be the one who copy but rather to excel in news making including making a gorgeous video in this over flooded information era.

((solid angle and story...writing is well-done...very nice work!))
