The “Bridge” of Mainland and Hong Kong
Liaison Office of the Central People's Government is the supreme office, also the spoke person of Mainland in Hong Kong. Over 60 years it has kept its role in advancing communications between mainland and Hong Kong. Ru-deng Wang, the director assistant of the Liaison Office, introduce the functions of the Office to some journalism students in a talk in Shun Yan University. “We are the bridge between Mainland China and HKSAR,” said Wang. “Our major works are to communicate with the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and garrison in HKSAR, to communicate and assist in the management of Mainland Company in Hong Kong, to enhance the relationship between Mainland and HKSAR in the field of education, science, culture, etc; to report Hong Kong people’s opinions to the Central government, and to deal with the issues related Taiwan and HKSAR.” Wang hope that Hong Kong youngsters can build up their national consciousness by knowing better about the function of the Liaison Office,
