The spokesperson of Alliance for True Democracy said they have not form an alliance with the Taiwan Independence movement on Tuesday.

The Global Times reported on Monday, the Alliance is being used by Taiwan Independence movement, as Joseph Yu-shek Cheng, the convenor of the Alliance and a professor of political science in City University, met Shih Ming-te last Saturday.

Cheng said that the Alliance has no connection with Taiwan Independence movement.

“The meeting was a simple sharing section,” Cheng added, “They want to know more about Hong Kong.”

Shih was one of the most prominent persons contributed to Taiwan's democratization. He had been referred to as "Taiwan's Mandela".

“I am well aware of the political implication when we met Shih, and I want to give pressure to Beijing,” said Cheng.

Cheng said he wanted to make a strong statement to Beijing, as Hong Kong is the only place where Beijing could allow democracy and demonstrate their SAR policies to Taiwan.

“Besides, I am a free person, it is my right to go wherever I want, regardless of the Communists' feelings.” Said Cheng.

The Alliance also met several other organizations and scholars in this visit.

The Alliance for True Democracy is a federation of pan-democratic groups that aim on encouraging discussion in society on the way to achieve universal suffrage for the chief executive election in 2017.

Taiwanese independence is a political movement aims on formally establish the Republic of Taiwan as a sovereign state.
