In the period of Hong Kong Chief Executive Election 2012, there are many pictures re-created to satirize the candidates of the election. Many people afraid the Copyright (Amendment) Ordinances will be too tight and will kill creativity.

Reporter/ Yam Vicky

The Copyright (Amendment) Ordinances is a controversial law, if the law is passed, people will afraid there is less freedom of speech. Geordie Toh, a law consultant of an Internet company, said that if the law is too tight, it is not a good phenomenon. He thought that the law is too tight or not should depend on the wording used in the law. If the law is too loose, the original creator will have harm in the Intellectual property rights. If the law is too tight, then the creativity of the second creation will be killed. However, Toh thought that people should respect the original creation and should have a baseline of the second creation. For example, there is a photo which took in Cultural Revolution. People who re-create it may not think of the feelings of the victims’families, they may not like their family members re-created by others. [IS the law too tight? How cna we tell?]
