The Limitation of China Media still Large

In the recent years, the limitations of China media have been gradually relaxed. Their news reporting is not fully control by Mainland government now. However, a Mainland media worker notes that China media’s limitations are still large when comparing with Hong Kong media.

Li Xie, Deputy Controller of Shenzhen Media Group, said China news always base on the Party, no matter in mind, action or in organization. It makes the news bias and promotional.

After Mainland China go through the innovation, China news begin conforming society need, although it still help the Party promoting its view. “Commercial elements are strengthening in China media such like increasing the advertisement to raise profits so that the news reporting is more freedom than before.” Li said. He thought the China media is not the government promotional machine now.

However, although the China media have more freedom of press than before, Li thought they still have difference on news concept and operation with Hong Kong. He said “Hong Kong media is balance and fair in news reporting. Freedom of press is also being treated important.” He also thought that Hong Kong media pay more attention on social value and social meaning than China media.

Besides, in general, Li also note that China media would not reduce the news content when handling Hong Kong news. They would only consider reporting the news would whether affect Hong Kong or not. If the news would affect Hong Kong image, China media would choose not to report.
