Loh Chan, the new CEO of Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited(DBC), said at a lecture at Shue Yan University yesterday that the DAB could provide a new experience for listeners as he discussed the future of digital audio broadcasting in Hong Kong.

“Content is King”

Commercial Radio Hong Kong and Radio Television Hong Kong have one million and eight hundred thousand audience, while DBC is still far away from that. To deal with it, Loh decided to change their focus, saying that "content is king." He said that if DBC has great content, it would become popular and can replace traditional radio.

DAB offers better sound quality as CD and helps lessening the interference. Moreover, it brings diversified programme choices to the audiences. Consumers will enjoy the benifits definetely by the new technology, he said.

Loh's company has invested $65 millions for developing DBC service in Hong Kong. Facing three competitors in the market, Loh is confident to his channels due to the belief of 'content is king'. He promised to make high quality programmes to attract audiences to overcome the great competition in the future.
