Nathan Law Kwun-chung, Chairperson of Demosisto said, “although Demosisto won a seat in the 2016 Legislative Council election only, we will fight for Hong Kong.”

At the age of 23, Law becomes the youngest Legislative Councilor. Speaking at Shue Yan University's assembly, he mentioned that his influence might be limited, but still he wanted to make a change politically by his own power.

Advocate of Hong Kong self-determination Nathan Law Kwun-chung said the threat of being disqualified from the legislature does not bothered him. Law, the youngest legislator elected with a mandate on self-determination, described the threat as a constant tactic used by Beijing to purge oppositions it fails to tame, saying he took the possibility with ease. Speaking at Shue Yan University’s general assembly, the chairman of Demosisto repeatedly urges students to embrace uncertainty in life and hardship in the face of an increasingly repressive regime. “Embrace the uncertainty in life, everyone knows the situation in Hong Kong will not improve in the near future. To resist oppression, we must practice our belief in our everyday life,” he said. Following the disqualification of two pro-independence legislators Baggio Leung Chung-hang and Yau Wai-ching, pro-establishment media outlets have been running news articles that Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying will take on Law on the ground of his oath taking fails to meet the standard set out by Beijing.
