Dr. Steve Wallace, the founder of Wallace Academic Editing, said today at

Shue Yan University that mainland students are far more aggressive and

impressive at learning than Hong Kong and Tai Wan.

Wallace established Wallace Academic Editing eight years ago, aims at using

academic language and knowledge to edit Hong Kongese writing errors. He

listed nine common writing errors of Hong Kongese research paper which

usually be rejected, in the latest published journal.

Wallace believed, recently, the average English level of mainland students

are impressively high, compared to Hong Kong, while Tai Wan students are a

little bit left behind. “If you don’t use it, you will lose it for sure”,

he said.

He suggested students should travel more while they are young and “stupid”,

as travelling helps youth to explore the world and understand the importance

of great English. “Myanmar and Laos are amazing places to go, because student

can gain life experience and the traveling expenses is pretty cheap”, he

explained.

Moreover, Wallace believed that Chinese will not replace English in a short

time because Chinese is too hard to learn and read. “Most of the research

papers and textbooks are in English, it is better to use English than Chinese

in class”, he commented.
