The founder of “Voice of Hong Kong”, who was also the former RTHK phone-in

editorial program holder, Robert Chow Yung challenged the

organizer of the Occupation of Central Movement, Benny Tai Yiu Ting,

to end the protest because of the instability of Hong Kong.

Chow, who attended the General

Assembly held by Hong Kong Shue Yan University, emphasized that the only purpose is to maintain the long term

stability of Hong Kong, even 10 years later; hence, he is proposing

a non-violence democracy. Some criticized Chow’s action is a hold

back for democracy, an act against the general election and the

discouragement for civil disobedient. Chow retorted that Tai has

underestimated the traffic paralysis, which may affect the rescue

operation of ambulance and the daily habit of Hong Kong citizen.

He stress that’s he has no interest on the personal civil disobedient

act, but the cause affecting the general Hong Kong citizen.

“We hope Hong Kong can remain stable instead of turmoil. Are

democracy and turmoil articulated essentially? Do we have to be the

second of India, getting back democracy by millions dead? If not,

why not us questioning how to obtain democracy?” asked Chow.

He questioned, what kind of democracy are Hong Kong people asking

for? Would the 2017 Hong Kong style general election be accepted?

He believes Hong Kong people can be the first place, having

democracy with no blood and violence.
