Andy Ngai, the Deputy Chief Editor, Supplement

of the Hong Kong Economic Journal, said today at Shue Yan University

that China is developed in a hectic pace in which many magnates come to

Hong Kong and bringing this culture to Hong Kong.

He said, the culture of China and Hong Kong is different. In China,

money and relations are vital. He said if a firm wants its news being

published widely, he must have to pay to the newspaper publishers.

However, he said Hong Kong Journalists are well-educated, he believes

this phenomenon will not spread to Hong Kong widely.

He claimed, the media culture in Hong Kong and China is completely different.

It is no use for Hong Kong Journalists to talk about freedom of speech in China;

he said if Hong Kong Journalists are planning to work in China, they should put this into concern.

Chinese government announced to set up committees concerning the morality of

journalist in China in a bid to improve the quality of news in China. Some

people worried that freedom of speech would be further restrained in China.

Andy said there is no freedom of speech in China, he don’t think the committee

would bring any effects to the existing phenomenon. However, he believes

freedom of speech in Hong Kong has not changed; he said Hong Kong people

should look further and understand the issue deeply before they criticized.
