Leo, LAM Cheung Wai, founding President of Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power and Ten Outstanding Young Persons 1996 HK Award, attended the Hong Kong Shue Yan University General assembly today said “ The next step would be to promote barrier-free taxis.”

Mr Lam said that there are many barrier-free taxis in Hong Kong, but they need to pay a $100 booking fee. For the disabled who are generally low-income and not wealthy, this extra cost is unaffordable. However, if we can promote the barrier-free taxis people, they will be able to "like ordinary people with good limbs".

For the difficulties of barrier-free taxis, Leo LAM Cheung Wai cited that he used to win low-floor buses in the past, which took eight to ten years to succeed. That is, the old-style buses almost disappeared, and almost all buses have low-lying platforms. He believes that barrier-free taxis will go through the same process.
