The ownership of the electronic health record is a problem, whether patients have the right to own their data should be further discuss, says a co-founder of blockchain society.

“The ownership of the EHR(electronic health record) is a fundamental problem of patients record,” said Peter Woo, a co-founder of Hong Kong Blockchain Society. EHR is the record about a person health, include present and past record of person and can search from the assigned network, he believe that it was a good system. The patients data were owned by hospitals and doctors now, but there was a conflict whether patients could get the right to own their data, so a discussion with the government was need to solve the problem, he said.

Compared to Singapore and China, he disagreed Hong Kong’s blockchain was bad than these two countries. “In my experience, I never lose in the competitions compare to Singapore and China,” he said. It depended on how you paid attention on blockchain and he encouraged students to joined more competitions to learn from others, he said, who was speaking at Hong Kong Shue Yan University talk today.

He said that the demand of talented people on blockchain was very high. He mentioned that AIA had the only person who was good at doing blockchain, Amazon came to find him and finally he worked in Amazon. The companies started to find the talented people globally, because there were few people study in blockchain and the demand was high now, he believed blockchain would became the trend in the future.

Peter Woo works over 25 years in the Information Technology, Internet and Telecommunications sectors and gain many international experience. He has founded five startups and he won in many international competitions. He also spends the leisure time conducting seminars for students and volunteering for under-privileged social groups.

Blockchain is is a growing list of records which are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block, a timestamp, and transaction data.--165031 2018年12月11日 (二) 17:46 (CST)
