HONG KONG,

April 9 - “Compared with China, the wages of news media workers in Hong Kong are low,” said Jane Chen, the channel director and news director of One-TV.

Chen, who has worked in Hong Kong news media industry for seventeen years, attended the general assembly in Hong Kong Shue Yan University. She described the wage of local reporters are wide range with the mainland’s reporters.

“As news reports should be neutral and objective, local reporters must not receive any presents from interviewers or companies,” said Chen.

Different from Hong Kong, she thought the professional reporters can be given a double wages and receive some “grey” income in mainland.

She said “I invited some Chinese reporters to work in Hong Kong; however, they were very shock because of the low wages.”

Chen thought the living standard of local reporters maybe down and out; however, investment can help improving life.

She said “Learning some investment skills can help gaining extra income.”
