Cheung Che Kong, the Executive Director of One Country Two Systems Research Center talked about the center’s roles and functions in Hong Kong with the students of Shue Yan College on Tuesday.

“We are different from university research institutions or commercial consultants,” said Cheung Che Kong. Cheung Che Kong explained that One Country Two Systems Research Center is a Think-tank. Its mission is to gather knowledge in the community and help the government to turn the knowledge into public policies. Although the center got to help the government, it should not have a close relationship with the government to avoid bias.

Cheung Che Kong deemed that One Country Two Systems Research Center is not working for a particular commercial company, it is working for the whole sector of Hong Kong. Now, the center is mainly focus on two aspects: Hong Kong’s constitution development and the association with the financial development in China.

Cheung Che Kong pointed out that the number of Think-tank in Hong Kong is not enough to serve the fast developing society. He hopes that there would have more Think-tank to existing in the future.
