Though “left-wing media” are not familiar and welcomed by most of Hong Kong citizens, these magazines and newspapers still insist on keeping their personalities in order to survive in Hong Kong.

Liu Wei Zhong, President and Chief Editor of Bauhinia Magazine, said he would only maintain their own standpoints and report the fact objectively.

Though people described Bauhinia Magazine as “left-wing media”, Liu denied Bauhinia Magazine working as “a tool to propagate the messages from the Chinese government”. “We only interpret the central policies on Hong Kong objectively.”Lui said bitterly.

Same as other magazines and newspapers, Bauhinia Magazine also found difficulties in getting some confidential information. “Someone said we have many channels to collect information,” Lui continued, “the fact is; we haven’t the privileges and also feel difficult in granting confidential information from the Chinese government.”

Lui reiterated the feature of Bauhinia Magazine, “we covered different kind of topics instead of only reporting the news from the Chinese government. For instance, our magazine contains celebrities’ interviews, Olympics features and cultural critics.
