The technology industry need young people to add in, says a technician

‘It is now the right timing for young people to join in technology industry,’ a technician said.

Jackson Tang, a senior technology entrepreneur, and Kenneth Chau, a president of Technology Incubation Network, who gave a talk at Hong Kong Shue Yan University weekly forum. They shared their point of view on how to be a technology entrepreneurship.

Tang said, the attitude of entrepreneur has the following conditions. It includes knowing the industry, having long term vision and high EQ. Also, entrepreneur is the person who willing to change and learning fast, listening to people and helping people as a leader.

Last but not least, never give up is important as an entrepreneur. ‘Learn from your mistakes, the you will improve better in the future,’ he said.

‘Hardworking is the most important element to be successful,’ Tang said. ‘As it is controllable by yourself.’

Chau is the mentor of Tang when he working on his startup career. Now they are business partners.

‘Everyone wants their ideas being popular, but it is not easy to do so,’ Chau said. Luckily, Hong Kong Science Park provides a lot opportunities such as "Start-up CEO Friendship Scheme" that help them implement their own ideas.

There is two difficulties that now the technology industry is facing. First, it lacks of talented people, as not many resources support, so people is not willing to involve in this industry.

However, nowadays the situation change, more and more young people interested about new technology, thus the problem is being solved gradually.

Another problem is that Hong Kong lack of market, as the resources is cannot compare with mainland China. Nevertheless, Chau believes Hong Kong provides a more condensed platform for people develop new technology.

The "Start-up CEO Friendship Scheme" launched by Hong Kong Science Park which is cooperate with a group of people who have accomplishment in Hong Kong Science Park and now become CEOs.
