(You have failed to mention the business relationship between Thomas Shao's Modern Media Group and Bloomberg. The two entities have entered into a business partnership to launch the traditional Chinese version of the weekly in Hong Kong and that was why Shao sounded like a salesman pitching for the magazine.)

Thomas Shao, the chairman of Modern Media Group, said in HKSYU today that popular magazines in Hong Kong are lacking international perspective.

“Hong Kong is an economically booming society, but the magazines are lacking international perspective. They need a revolution,” he said.

He also said that commercial value is not the only concern for him. “Hong Kong has a high economic vitality, cultural power and social charm. However, there is no international magazine,” he said. “I hope I can bring a new change to the magazines industry by bringing in Bloomberg Businessweek.”

He said Bloomberg Businessweek is a serious, high-standard magazine. It is not a tool of politician or rich but to bring international news and reduce social conflict in Hong Kong.
