How’s the importance of English to you? As it is an international language, it is so easy to answer this question: It is very important. You have good English not only represent you can communicate with different people from various countries, but also state that you are knowledgeable. But it is very common to see the poor English level of Hong Kong youngsters.

Yiu Po Kwong, a senior translator of movies and TV drama series, attended a seminar hold in Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday. He claimed, native English is simple as it can put different words together to make different meanings. To learn this, you are required to watch more movies and get notices on the way of foreigners use English.

For examples, “take care” can have two meanings one is to beware; another is to kill. If you are not clearly understand the all-rounded meanings of the words, you will make many jokes. Besides, Yiu said, according the situation and the tone of the actors, you can have a better understanding of the meaning of the words.

He explained the usage of English by using different films as examples to increase the delight of English. ‘To learn English is in a same way, make it funny, you will get interest in it!’
