HONG KONG, APR 23 – K P Cheung, an architecture professor, said the development of West Kowloon Cultural District should be reconsidered as the government can make better use of the land for a more preferable development.

According to Cheung, the West Kowloon Cultural District is a “Golden Ratio area” as it has the advantage of being one of Hong Kong's natural geometry. He suggested the government to build a “Golden Ratio architecture museum” or a “Golden Ratio Shopping Mall” to attract more visitors, thus stimulating the local economy.

“It will never be too late for a more sustainable development if a better plan is found," said Cheung.

Cheung also suggested that the government should fully utilize the lands in Hong Kong by learning from other countries on the development of an “underground city”. He believed that this suggestion can be a means to suppress the lofty land price in Hong Kong nowadays and thus maintain a sustainable development of the city.
