William Chan: All things are easy that are done willingly

Lost all memory of past life, it is difficult for most people to imagine. In 2003, William Chan was 19-year-old, now the Hong Kong Youth Exchange Promotion United Association Executive Director, loss most of his memory due to car crash.

He describes it is a reborn of his life. He use a totally different aspect to see the world and life.


Called on to participate in public service platform

William Chan share his experience and the reason why he do volunteer work in the Hong Kong Shue Yan University. He said he start his volunteer work after returning from amnesia, try to look for the meaning of life. At the same time, he feel he participates too less in public, he should fully utilize his life again, to participate more to the world.

He urged the government provide more resources and support in helping teenagers in Hong Kong, young people just like sea urchins, hard in the outer but soft inside.


Government and youth should listen to each other

William Chan believes, the government should have dislodge with young people, insisting each other's point of view without communication cannot help.

Government officers should listen with an open-minded and young people should express their opinion in a peaceful way, respect is the key in communication, he said.


Social enterprises hard to survive without government's support

William also pointed out that these are less social enterprises in Hong Kong, it is difficult for them to practice there social mission and maintain their business operation.

As the government provide limited supporting full to social enterprises, William hopes the government should give more support to them.
