“I don’t think people are supporting me, I just think those people hate somebody," said Ricky Wong.

Ricky Wong Wai Kay, chairman of Hong Kong Television Network Limited (HKTV), who has waited over 3 years and 10 months for acquiring license for free TV operation, failed the competition. The government announced HKTV is the only loser among three candidates on 16th October.

Wong believed people who stand out and demonstrate, or those who stay in new Government Headquarters dislike Chief Executive C.Y. Leung with their own ulterior reasons, rather than purely advocating him for not acquiring free TV license.

Wong, again, restated his analogy of competing for a free TV license as students taking examination.

“Your teacher claimed you could be promoted if you pass the exam. There isn’t any cut off and you need not score high,” said Wong, “but then your teacher suddenly changed his mind, saying you are not qualified to promote due to class reduction.”

Wong commented the practice of the government is a trap. He was told that HKTV would be licensed if all conditions met, and he was not allowed to change anything in the proposal. He commented he would not submit the prior document if he knew the tricks.

“The mood when answering the paper is totally different. I will not propose in such way if I know the 'actual' terms” he said. “I meet all minimum commitments they (the government) made before, as they say HKTV will have the license if we (HKTV) pass their conditions.”

Wong even criticized the consultation is fake and misleading.

Wong made a joke that he was not interested in buying ATV, but Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), when a student asked if he would purchase Asia Television Limited (ATV).

"Anything wrong with my words? Why can't I buy TVB?" he said.

Wong also make another analogy that TVB and ATV are gorgeous furniture and refuse respectively. He stricture “It is a pity to break an elegant table, but when it is just waste…shall we recycle it instead?”

Being asked repeatedly if he has planned to purchase ATV, Wong seemed reserved. He again, made a metaphor that ATV as a flat.

“I prefer buying new flat over revitalizing the old one,” said Wong.

“Honestly, up to this moment, I do not have such plan,” he said. “I have never checked ATV’s value, and it is not part of my plan. I don’t know how much it worth, as I have never read any information.”

But being asked what would he do to ATV if he were forced to own it, he answered, “I will turn ATV into HKTV, for sure!” without any considerations.
