Ricky Wong, Chairman of CTI, who has hired hundreds of staffs from TVB last year, plans to create a new TV production system and aims to grab a slice of pie in the TV industry.

Facing the keen competition in free-to-air TV market, Wong has prepared for the worst. “I have thought of many possibilities of the bad outcomes before building a business. I decided to build a TV station because I saw the shortage of new force in TV industry. I hope to bring audience the best program by training the fresh troops and most importantly I have commitment with my partners,” he said, “I will invest maximum $2.5 billion to the TV station in the first five years. Although I expect to lose money in the first three or four years, I see the benefits in long-run.”

He is also confident with the business as many overseas buyers knew CTI has hired experienced stagehands from TVB and interested in their future productions. “We got enquiries of cooperation of company from the Mainland, Singapore and Malaysia,” he added.

He explained, “We place importance on the construction of man power since we take the production process seriously. We use six months to create a drama with 20 episodes and four months to film it, which is lengthened the shooting process, in order to provide better productions.”

Wong emphasized his TV station would put all capital on producing original dramas and programs, not purchasing overseas dramas or football matches. He also encouraged graduates to enter his “New World”.
