( Ricky Wong of HKTV is hot news these days so when he gave a speech in the GA meeting, reporters came and covered the event. Here are some excerpts of what the media has reported:

Apple Daily - - Fate of HKTV to be decided in 6 months.

Ming Pao - - Wong threatens to reveal a confidential report in "a creative yet legally bound way" to challenge the government within a few days.

Oriental Daily News and The Sun- - Ricky Wong claims there is huge discrepancy between what the government reveals and what the confidential report says. And Tam Yiu Chung of the DAB party has urged Wong, on three occasions in three days, to consider acquiring ATV as an alternative. Since Tam is considered a Beijing surrogate in HK, the suggestion therefore could be viewed as evidence that Beijing has not held any grudge against Wong, thus not the reason for Wong's failure to obtain a license.

Other reports touch on issues like: Ricky Wong criticizes as unfair that the government is free to release selected sections of the confidential report to the public to attack and ridicule him while he is gagged by law and rendered defenseless.

My dear classmates, since our assignments and theirs are basically the same, we could therefore compare the media stories with ours to see if we are up to par with others. If our reports miss or lack what the others have, we should ask ourselves why and see if we could do better the next time.

Your lead is terse which is good. It is smart for you to tell your readers right after the lead that Wong's HKTV had failed to obtain an operating license earlier and that was why he had entertained the idea of acquiring other TV stations instead. In your report, words like rubbish and naughty should be put within quotation marks just to show that they were the exact words that Wong had said. You should also mention a bit about the TV business in Hong Kong, especially how TVB and ATV fares in market sharing and viewership.)

Wong Wai Kay, the Chairman of HKTV, said that he thought of purchasing TVB instead of ATV.

Wong said that he would not buy ATV when he failed to get the free TV license plate. Few days ago, Tam Yiu Chung, the Chairman of Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, suggested Wong Wai Kay to buy ATV repeatedly.

Wong said that he did not have the plan to buy ATV at that moment. He also thought that ATV was rubbish that was too difficult to reform.Besides, Wong mentioned that he had deeply discussed with others about purchasing TVB but he did not do so at the end. As he likes to do some naughty things, the style of TVB is not suitable for him. He admitted that TVB is a successful television station toward a specific group of audience. ‘It is too difficult to change a successful TV station, as it has some fixed rules that can not be changed easily’, said Wong.

Wong admitted that the strategy of fighting for the free TV license plate is directed against one person only. He mentioned that the one who repelled HKTV was from Central but not the central government. He thought that the central government was not involved in this case as he asked about this question.
