The news industry ((was changing rapidly these year))which caused reporters to change their way to cover a news story. Yau Man Wa, the former anchor and reporter of TVB was invited to the general assembly of Journalism and Communication Department at Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday. Yau said he would like to let journalism students understand more the professionalism and recent changes of being a reporter.

"A ((reporter is a professionalism)) that they always had to stay calm no matter how miserable and horrible scene they first saw," Yau said. Being a reporter for more than 10 years, Yau Man Wa said the big fire of Garley Building in 1996 impressed him most. He was sent to the scene right after the outbreak of fire. He was shocked by the piles of dead bodies and the hell-like fire scene. But, he immediately resumed calm and normal in his live broadcast.

"As a reporter, we were the one to step the foremost. We were always the first one to experience those unfortunate incidents and victims. Therefore we had to control our emotion well and tried our best to report objectively," Yau said. He said how well a reporter controlled his emotion under bad circumstances was exactly how well he performed his professionalism.
