"The election nowadays is like choosing a less rotten orange within those badly decayed oranges”, said Oscar Lai Man-lok, 19, spokesperson of the Scholarism, in Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday.

Lai said that the existing voting policy is not fair. He questioned why the government has the right to appoint those candidates in advance, then, the citizens choose from the appointed candidates after all. He said that this was a small circle election and hoped one day would have one citizen, one vote.

He said that citizen have no opportunity to select the one they support to represent or fight for them. He also said that instead, the appointed candidate is keen on China, the communist party and would not challenge Beijing. “ It is about to strike the balance”, he said and hopes to have the right vote the one totally by their actual wills.

“I hate politics”, Ivana Wong, a Hong Kong Canto pop singer-songwriter told in an interview before. “Hong Kong is our home. We should love our city and concern the latest status of it instead of saying you are total indifference to politics”, Lai brought Wong up wong saying and responded.

Lai said that people’s daily lives are actually all-around surrounded by politics, include clothing, eating, living and transporting are indeed related to politics. Everything is either directly or indirectly related to politics, as it is about the management of the government.

He provided the example by saying that the presence of The Link brings the rental fee of most of the shops increase that leading most of the small-scaled shops are forced to close down. Unlike the previous days, the shoppers can still have the sense of human touch.

He further said that nowadays the street only can allow the big scale chained shops like, Café de coral, Fairwood, Mannings and Parknshop to stay in the marketplace. These shops just lower people’s interaction, these all matters are due to the policy of the government that allowing The Link to do such business.
