“We have the right to enjoy Democracy,” says Cheng Yu-shek

Joseph Cheng Yu-shek, the spokesperson of Alliance for True Democracy, at a talk at Hong Kong Shue Yan University today, said he hoped that the Chinese government can realize if Hong Kong has no Universal Suffrage, the domination acceptability in Taiwan and Hong Kong would be affected.

Besides, he said that he suspected HKSAR has no sincerity to launch the consultation of Democracy Development. He said, “As the decision of Democracy Development is not made by the HKSAR who still has to wait the Chinese government’s order.” He further explained that nomination is the part he concerns most. “This involved the filter selected by the Chinese government that affects the acceptability of the Chief Executive,” he added.

During the talk, Cheng got mad because of a question raised by a student. The student asked if there were differences between what he said and an article in Economic Daily News about the meeting with Shih Ming-teh. He then explained loudly, “Economic Daily News misunderstood me, it was not true.”

The Alliance for True Democracy is a organization of the pan-democrats to fight for Universal Suffrage in Hong Kong founded on 21 March 2013 by 12 pan-democratic groups.
