All university students use coding after five to ten years, says coding teaching center founder

Artificial Intelligence was popular nowadays. School education was changed to include computer coding teaching in the class. It changed whole development of artificial intelligence in the future.

“Student if they learned computer coding when they were kindergarten or primary school, they learn high-order coding become faster,” ICanCode Founder and CEO Moni Law Yin-ling said at Hong Kong Shue Yan University today.

Law said that coding learning in kindergarten, student learn the basic knowledge of mechanical engineering like different functions of wheel used on robot.

And the Visual Block was most popular robot on primary school teaching.

Law said that students learned coding when they were young, which conduce them to catch up high-order coding learning easily, because they understood the grammar of coding already.

"Coding teaching is different with traditional education, we use the STEM style to educate and let students be the center," Law said.

Law said that robot was important in the future, such as control robot used on medicine, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) used on multi element.

She also shared her experiences that most of schools were support coding teaching.

She said that coding teaching was a new thing, teachers were not experienced on it. However, teacher was learning with students together through government subsidy.

Law also said that government should made computer coding as a regular course in Hong Kong. "U.S. already had computer coding course, it like learn one more foreign language," Law said.

Law graduated from the University of Leicester with an MBA elective in Information Systems Development and Technology Strategy Management and a Bachelor of Science from Hong Kong Baptist University.

She has been engaged in consumer electronics and information technology related industries for the past 10 years, including Samsung Electronics, Fujitsu, Hutchison Telecommunications and SmarTone.

In 2016, she launched ICanCode to promote STEM education. It includes computer programming, mechanical programming and creative STEM courses.

Also, ICanCode made a smart field-oriented GPS Android Apps creation course, which is the first creation of new generation of intelligent detectives and STEM leadership courses.
