Five places have become the Angel Garden in Hong Kong that assists in the burial of aborted fetuses which approved by Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

"We deal with the government and forward messages from the baby's parents, Food and Environmental Hygiene Department approved 5 of 6 places for us finally," Father Dominic Chan said at Hong Kong Shue Yan University today.

The right should not be limited by religious beliefs and change the definition for miscarriage of abortion in the Births and Deaths Registration ordinance from 24 weeks to 20 weeks can help more parents, he suggested.

He said under the current laws of Hong Kong, fewer than 24 weeks of aborted fetuses cannot be considered as infants, it will be classified as medical waste.

The Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong established the first "Angel Garden" at the Catholic Holy Cross Cemetery in Cape Collinson in Chai Wan last year. It set up a memorial garden for abortion. A monument set up in the garden, and the name of the aborted tire is written on the wall. There will also be an angel mark.

"The Government should start with the first step of the revision that understand need of baby's parents," Chan said.

At least one of the parents must be catholic if the parents’ wishes to bury the aborted fetus, Chan added.

"In the Catholic position, all the fetuses are human, no matter it births or not. The day of conception means life, the fetus can be legally buried is a sign of respect for life," Chan said.

"I have the accidental abortion experiences with my wife. It seems nothing can do in that moment, but I let my wife to write a letter for the past baby to let her feel soothing," the member of Catholic Messengers of Green, Dicky Cheung said.

Angel Garden was well developed in other countries, Hong Kong need to follow their step. It based on how people treat "life", Cheung added.
