HKSYU, 30 Oct - National Education, sometimes is called Brainwash Education, has aroused many controversies since it came forward. Candy Lo, the deputy chief editor of Hong Kong China News Agency, indicated that people should judge calmly.

Lo attended a general assembly at Hong Kong Shue Yan University yesterday. She pointed out that, as a part of Chinese, it is necessary for Hong Kong people to know something about China. Such as the economic took-off, social problems and also some common sense in geography, history and politics. She thought the negative effects was exaggerated. Some people who are against National Education even don’t cast a glance at the teaching material, they just go with the tide.

「 I don’t think it’s that easy to brainwash. 」 said Lo.

She took Huang Zhifeng for example. He graduated from Fujian Middle School, a traditional Left school. However Huang became the convener of Scholarism which was set up to anti National Education in 2011.

Sensation is one of the most suitable words to describe the media reports in Hong Kong.

「 I have to admit that the wording is pretty inciting. But it’s not a healthy phenomenon.」

The media is irresponsible to some degree. In order to make profit, they make a mountain out of a molehill to attract audience. Lo indicated that it’s nothing good to cultural and ideological progress. She felt relief that cost is not a consideration to Hong Kong China News Agency, so they could stick to write something positive.
