Cheng: I have got ATD’s permission to meet Shih Ming-te.

Joseph Yu-shek Cheng, spokesperson of Alliance for True Democracy (ATD), has met the former chairperson of Democratic Progressive Party Shih Ming-te in Taiwan last Saturday.

“I have got ATD’s permission for the meeting, and therefore I met Shih personally.” He said in Shue Yan University yesterday, after being questioned if he has contravened ATD’s decision, which is rejecting the meeting with Shih.

“It is needless to get Beijing’s consent (for the meeting), and I may meet different people in different countries. Beijing may not agree with all that.” He said.

Expressing his view in the cause of government’s decision in giving out television licenses, he thought that the government does not have citizens’ authorization so it may not need to elaborate the reasons in details. He would support the movement to besiege government’s headquarter. He is also dissatisfied with current situation of television networks since it is monopolized by TVB, thus, audiences have no choice.

“Most Hong Kong citizens concern about livelihood issues, “he stated, “The government should fulfilled people’s needs, and government’s policy can be controlled by general election. A democratic government has to pay for what it decided.”
