Cheng Yu-shek had mental preparation of being arrested

By Tse Chi Chung Published October22, 2013 Spokesperson of Alliance for True Democracy Cheng Yu-shek said he is dubious about the constitutional reform.

Hong Kong government has announced the formation of a task force led by the Chief Secretary, which will prepare for the public consultation on constitutional development. Cheng doubted whether Hong Kong government really had the sincerity to push the constitutional reform. He estimated that consultation plans will be established after The Third Plenary Session of eighteenth Central Committee, as the final decision would be made by central government during that period. He said the aim of “one - man - one – vote” is not difficult to achieve, the main concern is that whether the universal suffrage includes “real competition”. If all candidates are pro-constitution, the real universal suffrage is gone.

For the “Occupy Central”, he said he already had the mental preparation of being arrested at the time he decided to take part in this political action. He hoped students could come and support, but he urged that, when police take action, students should leave immediately, “It is not worthful (for a student being arrested)”.
