The 2018 Asian Games was held in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang. Hong Kong e-sports has very high potential, Hong Kong team has successfully won a gold medal.

“E-sports is the combination of interest and ideal,” Yeung Chuen Sing Eric said, the President of Esports Association Hong Kong said at a Hong Kong Shue Yan University forum yesterday. E-sports is providing another choice for people to choose for their future, it is different from gaming, but a way to makes people’s dream come true, he added. Even though he dedicates to promote e-sport industry, he does not encourage young people to play games, and he thinks that the E-sport school is only encouraging young people to play games rather than developing the industry.

“E-sport is gender neutral,” he said. Most people think that e-sport industry focus more on male player, but Yeung believe that this situation will change overtime,he even thinks that women players have higher potential than male players, he thinks that in fair competitive gaming, different genders won’t have any difference on the basic requirements, such as the gaming techniques, he said. He believes woman players have a higher business value..

“Game industry is different from e-sport industry,” he said. E-sports is a professional industry, but gaming industry is more complicated , Yeung thinks that should pay more effort to control the development of gaming industry because some of the games contain erotic and violence content.

“Hong Kong government are willing to provide funding to develop eSports industry” Yeung said. In 2017, the Tourism Board organised the city’s first e-sports festival, which received HK$35 million in government funding and drew around 50,000 visitors. Hong Kong government is very supportive on e-sports development, he added.

Yeung Chuen Sing Eric dedicate to promote innovation technology and e-sports. He is the President of Esports Association Hong Kong and Smart City Consortium and the Vice President of Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council and Internet Professional Association.--165054 2018年11月6日 (二) 17:23 (CST)
