The plan of West Kowloon Cultural District has industrialized culture and art, which helps art to sustainably develop, said Tang Shu Wing, artistic director of Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio.

Tang explained that the meaning of art industrialize is that the developers of art project consider both the value of art and commercial, take making profit as one of the goals of the show, but not forgetting the inside vale of art, which helps the theatrical companies produce art shows lastingly, without carrying heavy deficit.

Tang noted that the planning for West Kowloon Cultural District will be a good demonstration for art industrialize. He described the plan as an integration of art, culture, trend and commercial, and the government is aimed to bring various art programs to the district.

"The West Kowloon Cultural District Project will help foreigners learn more about Hong Kong, and the standard of culture in Hong Kong will be lifted up too," said Tang.

Tang suggested that Hong Kong artistic companies should build up more long term operas and art programs, such as the Phantom of the Opera in France and various musicals in Broadway.

Tang pointed out that the long term shows can attract audiences all over the world, and the cost of the show is low. These shows usually on show in a fixed opera, and the show often hold for several months or even more than 20 years.

The shows can even become signatures of a region and attractions for travelers.

"Producing long term shows will be the only way for Hong Kong's cultural development," said Tang.
