By SIU, Hnag Nam, 2012-11-27-Fanny Law, a member of the Executive Council, gave a talk in an university about political development in Hong Kong, as a means to promote the government policies. She said Hongkongers are now taking the matter of unauthorised building works (UBW) too serious.

Law was asked about if the issue about UBW would be a matter of creditability issue of the Chef Executive, CY Leung. She said the UBW of Leung’s house would possibly be a carelessness, and it should not be pointed directly towards his creditability.

“People are taking the issue of unauthorised building works too serious,” Said Law, “the issue should not be magnified in infinity.” She added, Leung had stated and explained very clearly in his 14-page declaration about the UBW in his house. She said that Leung did not kept the illegal structures not making application to the Building Department on purpose, as many of the participants of the talk might not notice the UBW in the own home.

Law also stated her attitude towards the proposed Old Age Living Allowance. She said she agreed that the Legco Councillors did made points on the details of the system. However, some councillors had put forward the Universal Pensions as a condition to vote for the Old Age Living Allowance, which she did not agree. She said that the proposed Old Age Living Allowance system, which involve asset test, was not perfect, but details were to be adjustable.

“Not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.” Law said. She said that it was not a good practice to make things which is good for the pubic slow, only because it was some ways from perfect.
