Hong Kong's media are free to write reports under the protection of the basic law, media have the right to obtain free information and expree their view. Comparing with China, James Pomfret clamied the meida should cherish the freedom of speech as mainland media cannot have the same situation under the government regulation.

James described the media freedom in hong kong as “wonderful (freedom)”. He rememberd when he worked in mainland, there are a lot of limitations when having the interview. "I have been banned from entering the village interview and be tracked and monitored." He suggests the reporters should be sensitive and careful when doing reporting in mainland, try to find ways to avoid the track of government.” Do our best to report the truth.” He strongly agrees with that.

Working in the mainland for a long time, James truly hopes that the transparency should increase. Now China is at the front of the world, the freedom of speech should same with other countries, such as UK and US.
