HKSYU, 23 Apr - K P Cheung, the associate professor of Architecture Department of HKU, indicated that it would be better if West Kowloon Cultural District was an underground city.

Cheung said the government made a plan in 2006, but high-speed rail became common in China since 2010. The society changed dramatically during these years. However, it’s a pity that the plan of West Kowloon Cultural District did not adapt itself to changing circumstances. He suggested that government should develop a huge underground city to meet the requirements of increasing tourists.

Golden ratio is one of the aesthetic value. On the other hand, it is quite significant for architecture because it can help raise the use ratio of land. Cheung pointed out that there are a lot of golden triangles in Hong Kong. For example, Victoria Peak, Lei Yue Mun and Lion Rock form an equilateral triangle which contains West Kowloon Cultural District. He thought Hong Kong should take good use of the natural phenomenon.
