Witnessing that Hong Kong China News Agency have reported Six Four Meeting since five years ago, Candy Lo said that China is becoming more open-minded. However, she still hopes that HKCNA can increase news angle.

Candy Lo, the deputy chief editor of HKCNA, attend the general assembly in Shue Yan University, where she graduated from. She said that the agency started to report the annually Six Four Meeting just five years ago. “Frankly, we didn’t report it before,” said Lo.

However, citing the incident of Li Wangyang, HKCNA only covered the death report from Hunan but ignored the negative evident or comments. Lo said that HKCNA has its own background and system in covering stories. She and the crew always try to cover incidents in more different angles, but this is still in progress, “We still have so many rooms to improve but time and space should be given,” said Lo.

Working for a left-wing media, Lo indicated that, China has a different background when compared with the western country. However, media is a way to lead to a more open-minded country. “There’s a lot of limitation, however, it is improving,” she said.
