reported by Fong Cheuk Ying, 26th November, 2013 Hao Tie Chuan, The Director-General of the Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs from the Liaison Office of the Central Peoples’ Government in HKSAR said the nominating committee for Chief Executive is crucial in Chief Executive Election and thus cannot be replaced by using other nominating methods. Hao said civil nomination and nomination from political parties are not obeying the Basic Law. Also, Hao added that since the nomination committee has the general representativeness which other methods cannot widely represent the intension of Hong Kong citizens. Recently, the Basic Law Committee Chairman , Li Fei, visited Hong Kong and talked about the criteria and the format on how to elect the Chief Executive in 2017. Hao pointed out that, the 5 criteria suggested by Li Fei are reasonable and conform to the international standard. He said “ I think the 5 criteria suggested by Chairman Li is the same with the international standard.” Hao added, since the 5 criteria suit the international interpretation of universal suffrage, there is no need for Hong Kong people to find other western professions to design a new system for the CE election.

For the CE election in 2017, Hao said there are still 3 aspects that Hong Kong people need to discuss. They are the number of Chief Executive candidates, the democratic process of nominating by nominating committee and how people can elect the Chief Executive.--115047 2013年11月26日 (二) 18:40 (UTC)
